Technology is advancing with each passing day. Thanks to these advancements today, a lot has changed about how a lot of things are being done. This technological change cuts across all aspects including how motorcycle accessories are designed and supplied.
Modern motorcycles now feature far more than it used to in style and technology. New motorcycle accessories are now replacing the old to make each ride better and more enjoyable.
One aspect of the motorcycle that these updates have affected so much is the motorcycle headlight. Like most other parts of the bike, the headlight gets updated almost every time. Thanks to these updates, we now have three common types of motorcycle headlights.
Take a look at them. This is perhaps the simplest type of light that you can find in the market. Like motorcycle disc locks , their existence can be traced to the early age of motorcycles. It just features s tungsten filament bulb, fixed inside a specially built housing with reflective material surrounding it. The core technology behind the design of this system makes it reflect and focus as much light as possible in the forward direction.
The type of headlamps that fall under this category come with high-tech and modern design. You will mostly find this type of headlights in a compact housing without the need of any sizeable supporting reflector. This type is designed to feature a magnifying lens in front to ensure an extending illumination power. Although quite expensive, you will find this modern headlamp solution useful for its directional characteristics and its compact size.
One look at the construction of this type of headlight and you can tell that it is built to serve modern lighting purposes. They are also compact and comes as effective solutions with premium features. This type of light comes with a longer lifespan and does not consume too much power. Overall, it is an impressive solution for motorcycle lighting needs. It is not surprising to know that motorcycle headlight bulbs also come in different types. Most people, however, do not know how to differentiate between the different types available in the market.
This is the most common type of bulb that you will find being used out there in standard headlights. It looks almost exactly like the ordinary bulb being used at home. To make it even more similar, the bulb is designed to produce light according to its wattage. Perhaps the only difference is that these motorcycle bulbs are DC operated. It consumes quite a lot of power compared to most other modern lights and illuminations. Despite how long it has lasted in the market, this type of bulb is still surprisingly being used.
It is common in the market because of its cost-effectiveness and ease of maintenance that it brings. This type of bulb is mostly used in projector-type setups, primarily because of the directional features that they are made of. You will find that this type of bulbs are pretty bright and can give out a fascinating stream of light. The bi-Xenon setup means that it can focus its light on two different areas, but it does not exactly have two bulbs.
Instead, the bi-Xenon setup comes with a solenoid which cuts the light off and redirects it to another direction. This working process results in a single bulb being able to work for both high and low beam.
However, due to its hi-tech setup, it is more costly than the one reviewed above. This type of light comes as a specialized gas-filled bulb, and it strikes and electrical arc inside the tungsten rods. Reply 6 months ago. It looked like part of one sentence. He did start the sentence with a Capital Letter though Have to admit I didn't read his whole post though. I was afraid I would've ended up with a headache.

Question 1 year ago on Step If they are not properly certified, then you are screwed financially. Question 1 year ago. Anyone know or can recommend a certain Brand? Reply 6 years ago on Introduction. Hi Vinz, here's some before and after photos. I probably should have included these in the instructable. Both shots are taken with the high beam on - hence the reason you can see the reflective sign glowing in the distance.
The 'before' shot shows very little illumination near to the vehicle from the low beam halogen bulbs. In the 'after' shot you can see a massive difference in the area lit up by the low beam. There was a little fog around, so not ideal conditions for photography, but you can see how much better the LED lights are.
They have a very slight blue tone at 5, kelvin color temperature. I am planning to change the LED headlight instead of halogen bulb. I even don't know what is the law in my state Michigan. Can somebody advice. Appreciate your help. Question 2 years ago on Step 1. Hi there. Instead, Xenon Gas inside the bulbs heats between the electrodes, turning very, very bright in micro seconds. HID lights first began appearing on luxury cars in the late 90s and are becoming increasingly more common as standard equipment.
Now a driver can find a HID conversion kit for practically any car on the road if they want to upgrade their older halogen headlights.
HID lights provide better visibility at night, which helps to improve nighttime driving safety. Could it be that your light cover is just oxidized? When you drive at night with HID headlights you can tell that the grass is green and the stop signs are red. What this means for the driver is that he not only sees farther, but also in far more detail. People walking beside the road no longer look like shadows, but the actual coloration of their hair, clothes and shoes are visible and identifiable.
While HID headlights offer superior lighting, they also offer operational benefits to motorists. As well, the lifespan of a HID light bulb is around 3, hours compared to 1, hours for a conventional headlight bulb.
Which means, you may never need to replace an HID light bulb through the life of your car. Initially, HID headlights were only a very expensive option on some luxury cars. Besides improving on the shear power of the light source, the output of HID headlights benefit with a nearly ideal color temperature. Lower light temperatures created from old-style incandescent and some halogen headlights would contain a noticeable yellowish tint.
